Sherman Township Fire and Rescue Department has acquired new equipment to enhance off-road rescue responses.
The department purchased a rescue UTV vehicle and trailer through a September matching campaign supported by the Keweenaw Outdoor Recreation Coalition.
Sherman Township Fire and Rescue maintains one of Keweenaw County’s largest response areas, covering 81 square miles that includes homes, businesses, forests and recreational destinations. While firefighters respond to fires throughout the year, medical emergencies comprise the majority of calls. Many of those emergencies occur on off-road trails.
The Keweenaw Outdoor Recreation Coalition recently shared photos on Facebook, delivering the new UTV and trailer, which features department graphics.
