Michigan Department of Transporation announces it will begin to shut down roadside parks across the state at the end of October. Many of the 82 roadside parks across Michigan, maintained by the Michigan department of Transporation, will officially close October 31st. The state will keep several parks open for extended use in northern Michigan and the thumb, and three sites will close early for infrastructure upgrades. The Upper Peninsula’s 35 roadside parks will close October 31st. Including sites such as Canyon Falls and Baraga Cliff in Baraga County, the Keweenaw Scenic Turnout, Great Sand Bay, Esrey, and Hebard, and the Memorial Airport park, in the Keweenaw Peninsula.
