Raymond Glenn Gerard of Calumet, Michigan passed away on September 27, 2025 at Corewell Wayne Hospital in Wayne, Michigan. Ray was born on April 11, 1959 in Detroit, Michigan to Carl and Geri Gerard. Ray graduated from Franklin High School in Livonia, Michigan.
He met the love of his life, Gail and they were married in September of 2013. Ray was a handyman up until retirement. He worked in the tool and die industry, as well as learning his carpentry skills with Steve Winalis at Action Fire Insurance Repair.
Ray loved to watch and cheer on all Detroit sports teams. He enjoyed playing on the bowling, horseshoe, and disc golf leagues. He loved going for rides on his Harley and playing cards.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law Danny Jarve. He is survived by his wife Gail, daughters Sarah (DJ) Kaura, and Rachel (Ben) Kotajarvi, son William (Emma) Kotajarvi, granddaughters Alaina and Ellie Kaura, one sister Karen (Virgil) Berean, two brothers Keith (Al Krohn) Gerard, and Bryan Gerard, brother-in-law Bill (Susie) Bessner, 3 sister-in-laws Debbie Jarve, Lori Bessner, and Vicki Bessner, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Ray will be held at the Siskiwit Reception Hall in Calumet, Michigan from 11:00am to 2:00pm on Saturday, October 11th, 2025. Pastor Jared Howard will be leading a prayer service at 11:00am.
A funeral service will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Livonia, Michigan at 11:00am on Saturday, October 18th, 2025. The visitation will begin at one hour prior to the service at 10:00am.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Faith Lutheran Church (Calumet) or a charity of your choice.
