In high school volleyball last night…
- Dollar Bay-Tamarack City got past Lake Linden-Hubbell 3-2 (25-23, 13-25, 15-25, 25-16, 15-12). Kiera Isaacson had 10 kills and 15 digs for the Blue Bolts. Laila Bell added 12 digs, and Kallie Heinonen 13. Sylvie Kentala finished with 16 assists. Kassie Heinonen had 4 aces and 16 service points. Payton Goldsworthy led the Lakes with 12 kills, 4 aces and 15 assists. Emily Burnham had 10 kills and 4 blocks.
- Jeffers slipped past Baraga 3-1 (26-24, 25-11, 25-27, 25-21). For the Jets, Mia Nordstrom had 12 kills and 4 aces, and Kylee Andrews had 7 kills. Celia Randell and Liz Halonen each had 11 assists.

MLB
The Tigers fell into second place in the American League Central with a 5-1 loss to the Guardians last night. Detroit’s only run came on a Parker Meadows sacrifice fly in the third inning. Jack Flaherty pitched into the fifth inning, gave up three runs, and took the loss.
The Tigers wrap up that series in Cleveland tonight. Detroit has not named a starter – Troy Watson may be called up from Toledo to make his major league debut. Parker Messick will open for the Guardians. Because of NFL football on 99.3 The Lift, Tigers coverage will begin at 6:15 on KBear 102.3.
The Tigers have lost 11 of their last 12, and lead the Astros by one game in the race for the final American League Wild Card playoff berth.
Detroit has brought outfielder Justyn-Henry Malloy back up from Toledo, and sent infielder Jace Jung back down.
The Brewers got past the Padres 3-1 yesterday. Danny Janson homered. Six Milwaukee pitchers held San Diego to six hits.
With their 96th win, the Crew matched the best season record in club history.
The Brewers take today off, and welcome the Reds tomorrow. Quinn Priester will pitch against Zack Littell.
After his poor performance Tuesday, Milwaukee designated pitcher Bruce Zimmermann for assignment, and called Carlos Rodriguez back up from Nashville.
