Jean Lange, 88, of Hancock, died on July 16, 2025 at Our Lady of Mercy Health and Rehabilitation in Hubbell.
She was born on August 3rd, 1936 in Hancock, the daughter of the late Fabian and Catherine (nee Gates) Chagnon. Jean graduated from Hancock High School in 1954. She married Edmund R. Lange on January 10, 1960. As a military family they were stationed in Germany, California, Colorado, Virginia and Maryland. Upon his retirement, they settled in Odenton, MD where she resided until after his death in 1992 returning to Hancock in 1997.
Jean was employed at St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store. She enjoyed taking relaxing walks, reading and making pasties. She also volunteered for schools, her church and the American Red Cross.
She is survived by daughters Suzan Morgan of Buckhannon, WV, Jane Russell of Bonney Lake, WA and sons James Lange of Sanbornville, NH and Raymond Lange of Hancock. Grandchildren, Blake and Natalie Russell, also reside in Bonney Lake. Her brothers, Raymond and James Chagnon, preceded her in death.
Father John Martignon officiated a graveside service at her burial in Hancock’s Lakeside Cemetery.
