
On Monday MDOT will begin annual inspections on the Portage Lake Lift Bridge.
Crews will start work by closing the outside northbound lane at 830 am. Work will continue unti3:00 pm.
On Tuesday crews will flip and close the outside southbound lane from 830 am to 3 pm.
On Wednesday, the Michigan Department of Transportation will close the M-26 eastbound bypass ramp at 9am. The closure will last for one hour. The department encourages drivers to seek an alternative route between Hancock and Ripley during that time.
Crews may perform additional work on June 4th, that could require a lane closure on the bridge.
Please watch for MDOT employees when traveling across the Portage Lake lift bridge. Please use caution and limit your speed while traveling near work crews.
The speed limit across the Portage Lake lift bridge is 25 miles per hour. MDOT reserves the right to limit speeds in work zones to 20 miles per hour.
