Marion Claire Suhonen, age 80, of Mohawk passed away peacefully on February 23rd, at Mission Point of Hancock, where she had been a resident for several years.
Marion was born August 23rd, 1944 in Laurium, MI. She attended the Mohawk Schools. She later married the late James Suhonen and together they raised 5 children. Marion was a people person; she loved everyone she met. She took care of others before taking the time to care for herself. She had two dogs Rocky and Timber whom she loved dearly. She spent a lot of time in her kitchen making pasties and baking for others. Marion loved to be outdoors, she loved berry picking with her sister and her cousin Judy. Camping and being by the lake were a big part of her life. She also loved to dance, but most of all being with family and friends were the most important to her.
Marion worked as a waitress in several establishments in the Keweenaw until she became employed in food service in the CLK and Mohawk schools, where she retired from.
Marion is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Elsie Seppanen and her first born child Kimmy Lee.
She is survived by a sister Nancy (Carl) White of Christmas, MI. Sons Steven Suhonen of Mohawk, Dan (Cara) Suhonen of Hancock, Randall Suhonen of Mohawk, and a daughter Sherry (Bob) of Lake Medora. Three nieces, Jessica, Amanda, and Margaret. Grandchildren Amy, Jordan, Steven Jr. Hannah, Joshua, Carson, Sydney Lee and Finn. Also, a very special cousin Judy Anderson.
A service for Marion Suhonen will be held at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet, Michigan at 6:00pm on Monday, March 3, 2025 with Pastor Larry Molloy officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00-6:00pm in the funeral home. Burial will take place in the spring at Calvary Cemetery in Ahmeek.
