Linda Lou Kunick, age 77 of Nisula, MI passed peacefully with her loving family by her side on April 5, 2026. She was born to the late Alfred and Dorothy (Sullivan) Cayanus. She graduated from L’Anse High School in 1968. Linda married the love of her life, Lloyd Kunick on June 30, 1973 at St Anns Catholic Church, Baraga. They were married for 52 years. She loved crafting, gardening, flowers, dancing, sewing and crocheting. She also loved to draw and was a doodler. Whatever was laying around she was drawing on it, especially when her children were young and if they left their homework on the table, it had a doodle on it, usually flowers. She loved the outdoors, and was always walking and tending her flowers in the yard. Linda was a stay-at-home mom, raising her 3 children until 1995 when she started working at the Baraga Ojibwa Casino Hotel in Housekeeping. Linda worked there until her retirement in 2006. Her 3 grandsons were her whole world. She was always doing things with them. They especially loved to play cards and board games.
Linda is survived by her husband Lloyd Kunick of Nisula, her children April (Ken) Vervisch of Alston, Lloyd Kunick of Nisula, and Connie (Mike) Callahan of Green Bay, WI, grandsons Nathaniel Vervisch (Kaitlyn Levine) of Norway, MI, and Maddax and Bryson Callahan of Green Bay, WI, brother and sister-in-law Ron and Louise Kunick of Ludington, MI, and her aunt June Sullivan of L’Anse. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, 4 brothers.
Funeral services for Linda will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2026 at Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Pastor Ed Hulkonen, Jr officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. Immediately following the funeral service, the family invites friends to join them for a luncheon and fellowship in the Harrington Gathering Room, located at the funeral home.
Interment will take place in the Alston Cemetery at a later date.
