The Harter’s Auto girls 19U hockey team ovewhelmed Downriver United 12-0 yesterday, to repeat as Tier III State Champions.
College Basketball
Marcus Tomashek’s three-pointer with two seconds remaining lifted the third-seeded Michigan Tech men’s basketball team to a 69-67 upset of second-seeded Grand Valley State in their Division II NCAA tournament regional semifinal yesterday. Tomashek’s clutch shot put the Huskies up by one, and gave them their first lead of the second half. He was fouled while shooting, and sank the bonus free throw to seal the win, in a game that was neck-and-neck from start to finish. Tomashek finished with 22 points. Jesse Napgezek added 18 off the bench. The Huskies lost to the Lakers three times during the regular season.
Northern Michigan’s season ended with an 86-68 loss to top-seeded Walsh last evening. Dylan Kueh scored 19.
Tech and Walsh will play for the regional title tomorrow night in North Canton, Ohio.
In the Division II women’s tournament, top-seed Grand Valley will face third-seed Northwood for the regional title tonight.
NHL
The Red Wings host the Flames tonight. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
NBA
The Pistons fell to the Raptors 119-108 yesterday. Cade Cunningham scored 33 points.

With Giannis Antetokounmpo back in the lineup, the Bucks outscored the Pacers 134-123 yesterday. Antetokounmpo had 31 points and 14 rebounds.
The Bucks entertain the Cavaliers tomorrow night.
MLB
The Tigers pounded out 18 hits, and humbled the Yankees 12-1 in Grapefruit League action yesterday. Spencer Torkelson, Matt Vierling and Riley Greene homered. So did Jordan Yost. Detroit’s top pick in the recent draft stepped to the plate for the first time in a pro baseball uniform in the eighth inning, and hit a grand slam. Framber Valdez allowed four hits over five shutout innings.
The Tigers face the Phillies today. Jack Flaherty will start. Coverage will begin at 1:00 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Brewers lost to the Giants 7-1 in Cactus League play yesterday.
The Brewers will take on the Dodgers this afternoon. Chad Patrick will start for Milwaukee.
