The girls basketball tournament opens tonight with district play-in games.
- Division Four, District 97 at Ewen-Trout – Watersmeet faces Bessemer.
- Division Four, District 98 – Lake Linden-Hubbell plays at Dollar Bay-Tamarack City at 6:00.
- Division Four, District 99 – Carney-Nadeau plays at North Central; Stephenson plays at North Dickinson.
- Division Three, District 65 – Ironwood plays at West Iron County. Calumet will host the winner on Wednesday, with coverage on the Voice of the Copper Kings, KBear 102.3.

NBA
The Pistons blew past the Magic 106-92 last night. Cade Cunningham scored 29 points and added 11 assists.

The Bucks lost to the Bulls 120-97 yesterday afternoon. Bobby Portis led Milwaukee with 18 points.

MLB
The Tigers and Blue Jays played to a 4-4 tie in a Grapefruit League game yesterday. Tarik Skubal gave up two runs over three innings.
The Tigers will face the Twins this afternoon. Framber Valdez will start for Detroit.
The Brewers lost to the Royals 3-1. Chad Patrick allowed a run over two innings.
The Brewers play the Great Britain World Baseball Classic team today. Jacob Misiorowski will start.
Sled Dog Racing
Mike Bestgen led from start to finish as he won his second straight CopperDog title over the weekend. The defending CopperDog 150 champion carried a slim 13-second lead into Saturday’s second stage of the resized CopperDog 120. He increased his lead to nine minutes on Saturday, then blistered the final stage yesterday to build the margin to more than 16 minutes. As the leader, Bestgen was last out of the gate as stage three began in Copper Harbor. He passed every other musher on the course to become the first to reach the finish line in Laurium. Jake Golton finished second, and Sarah Tarlton third.
At the CopperDog 30 on Friday night, Danny Edmonson took the title, with Larry Fortier second, and Joann Fortier third. At the CopperDog 15 sprint in Copper Harbor Saturday, Golton took his second-straight title, scorching the icy course at an event-record 15.6 miles per hour. Seventy-seven-year-old Bob Lee finished second. Kashton Beaber won the new Junior CopperDart, averaging 14.3 miles per hour over the five-mile course. Sarah Anderson was second, just five seconds off the pace.
