High School
In high school hockey last night…
- Houghton overpowered Calumet 5-1. The Copper Kings grabbed an early advantage, as Dylan Crouch scored the only goal of the first period. Brody Donnelly’s two goals in the second period brought the Gremlins back. Gunner Gullstrand scored two goals 10 seconds apart in the third period, Connor Arko added a late tally. Cooper Flachs earned the win in net, and Beau Jukuri took the loss, as Houghton outshot Calumet 38-11.
In boys basketball last night…
- Hancock lost to Ironwood 54-35.
- Dollar Bay-Tamarack City overwhelmed Baraga 62-32.
- L’Anse outscored Ewen-Trout Creek 81-57. Keegan Davidson led the Hornets with 26 points. Brody Majurin had 19 for the Panthers.
- West Iron County fell to Negaunee 70-35.
On last night’s girls schedule…
- Houghton trounced Westwood 72-32. Mia Lawson paced the Gremlins with 17 points, Ruby Zawada added 16, and Ellie Hainault 11.
- Hancock outscored Calumet 47-40. Emery Chynoweth and Alecia Aho each netted 11 for the Bulldogs. Kiirsi Johnson led Calumet with 13 points.
- Baraga shut down Lake Linden-Hubbell 62-25.
- L’Anse downed Ewen-Trout Creek 57-45.
- Ontonagon shaded Ironwood 43-39.

College Hockey
Michigan Tech’s Stiven Sardarian has been named the Central Collegiate Hockey Association Forward of the Week for the fourth time this season. Sardarian had two goals and two assists in the Huskies’ split with Northern Michigan over the weekend.
NHL
The Red Wings welcome the Kings tonight. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Wings will be without defenseman Simon Edvinsson. Edvinsson has missed the last two games with a lower-body injury. The team now says he will miss the next five leading up to the Olympic break.
NBA
The Pistons visit the Nuggets this evening.
The Bucks visit the 76ers tonight.
NFL
The Lions continue the overhaul of their offensive coaching staff. After hiring Drew Petzing as their new offensive coordinator, Detroit is also set to bring in former Giants offensive coordinator and interim head coach Mike Kafka in what is being described as a “high-ranking offensive staff role.”
