If the weather holds out, Houghton won’t have a problem finding enough snow to build a freestyle snowboard course in the middle of downtown.
Unlike the last couple of years, the Copper Country has welcomed plenty of snow to the region so far this winter, returning to what feels like a classic Upper Peninsula winter.
Plans for Jibba Jabba have been under wraps, but the high-flying sports event has an announcement to share, with plans to introduce a Friday night qualifier. The opportunity will encourage locals and visitors in the area to take on the challenge and pick a line to show off their own tricks.
After the qualifier ends, the fun and excitement will move to the Carnegie Museum to name a winner and a movie. While the crowd moves away from the course, Houghton DPW will build up the features for the main event on Saturday.
Those interested in registering to fill one of 40 qualifier slots can find more details here
