High School
To fill the schedule gap left by Sunday’s MacInnes Holiday Hockey Classic cancellations, a doubleheader featuring our four local teams has been added today at the SDC.
- Houghton will play Calumet at 4:00.
- Hancock will take on Jeffers at 6:00.
Coverage of both games will begin around 3:40 on KBear 102.3.
The girls high school basketball showcase set for yesterday was canceled because of the weather. Three of the games will be made up tomorrow at Houghton High School – Wakefield-Marenisco v Forest Park at 12:30, Lake Linden-Hubbell v North Dickinson at 2:00, and L’Anse v Munising at 3:30. The Baraga-Norway game will be made up on a date to be announced.
The boys basketball showcase featuring teams from the Copper Mountain Conference against teams from the Skyline Conference will be held today:
- 2:30 – Baraga vs Stephenson
- 4:00 – Lake Linden-Hubbell vs North Central
- 5:30 – L’Anse vs Norway
- 7:00 – Dollar Bay vs Foreast Park
In other hoops action, the Jeffers boys and girls teams both host Ishpeming for a doubleheader tonight.
College Hockey
The Michigan Tech hockey team fell to third-ranked Michigan State 4-1 in the championship game at the Great Lakes Invitational Tournament yesterday. Carson Latimer scored the Huskies’ only goal, tipping in a shot from Jack Anderson. The Spartans claimed the MacInnes Cup for the second straight year, and the 14th time in the 59-year history of the series.
Anderson and Stiven Sardarian were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Miami of Ohio defeated Ferris State 4-2 in the consolation match.
NFL
In last night’s NFL game, the Falcons built a big early lead, then held on to defeat the Rams 27-24.

The Red Wings host the Jets tomorrow, with coverage at 6:15 on 99.3 The Lift.
NBA
The Pistons visit the Lakers tonight. Coverage will begin at 10:05 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Bucks outscored the Hornets 123-113 last night. Bobby Portis scored 25 points off the bench. Giannis Antetokounmpo added 24.
The Bucks entertain the Wizards tomorrow.
