MI-TRALE supports the community and hopes the community supports the organization. MI-TRALE recently participated in Ontonagon 2025 Christmas Parade. The group’s float was led by MI-TRALE treasurer Dave Bishop and his wife Pat, who helped fill out a small parade due to frigid temperatures. Despite the cold and snow, MI-TRALE was happy to warm the spirits of attendees with the eight other entries in the parade. And take home a second place award in the parade’s commercial division for their entry depicting Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer leading the way for Santa and the MI-TRALE Red Trail maintenance truck.
Throughout the year MI-TRALE keeps up the motorized and non-motorized trail network in Houghton, Baraga, Bruce Crossing and the Ottawa National Forest. The club requires the support of local businesses and individuals to function. With commercial support often aiding the group’s project plans and people to lend a hand on site. MI-TRALE hopes to encourage new membership through efforts to engage with the community off of the trail and in town during events such as the Ontonagon Christmas Parade. Those interested in learning about ways to get involved with MI-TRALE, or have ideas for ways the club can engage with the community should contact President Don Heshel or Secretary Linda Schultz.
MI-TRALE will host the first meeting of 2026 on January 12th at the Stannard Township Hall. The first meeting of the year will bring together the club’s core membership, and encourages new members who’ve recently joined to attend. MI-Trale also encourages those that have considered joining the membership in the past, or have supporting the organization recently to attend its annual meeting. The Board of Directors expects to hold an annual election during the January 12th meeting.
