Copper Shores Community Health Foundation and Superior Health Foundation partner to address food pantry needs in Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw and Ontonagon counties.
In late November, Copper Shores and Superior Health Foundation announced each will pledge $10,000 to support $20,000 in food pantry grant awards. President of Copper Shores Kevin Store says this is a great example of the collaborative efforts between the foundations to support food pantries and volunteers fighting food insecurity in the western Upper Peninsula.
Superior Health Foundation’s $10,000 of support was a part of a larger grant commitment that supported $65,000 in awards across the Upper Peninsula.
In Baraga County, Sacred Heart St. Vincent De Paul will receive $3,500, and the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Commodity Food pantry will receive $2,000.
Supporting pantries in Houghton and Keweenaw counties, the foundations will award $4,500 to the CLK food pantry and $2,000 to Copper Country Angel Mission in Calumet, and $2,500 will support Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly groceries and pantry program.
In Ontonagon, the Holy Family St. Vincent De Paul pantry will receive $3,500, and in White Pine the United Methodist Church food pantry will receive $2,000 of support.
