Art brightens up homes or offices. Handcrafted jewelry can take months to prepare. Pottery can look beautiful and have a utilitarian use.
The Copper Country Community Arts Center welcomes 60 artists to Calumet High School for the 49th Poor Artists Sale. Executive Director of the CCCAC Cynthia Cote says the annual sale finds artists from close to home, and from other parts of the Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin, who plan out entire series for the season, seek out beautiful landscapes to capture, and handcraft intricately designed jewelry.
“It’s an important fundraiser for us,” Cote said. “The booth fees help us with our operational expenses and really help to make our educational programs accessible to everyone. So we keep a low fee on our classes, but also there’s a lot of free programs that are taking place here year-round.”
The Poor Artists sale is one of the Copper Country Community Arts Center’s largest fundraisers. Each year shoppers find unique and one-of-a-kind pieces of art. Cote says many people have found great gifts for friends and family for holidays, birthdays, housewarmings, or promotions and graduations.
The 49th Poor Artists Sale will begin at 11 a.m. at Calumet High School inside the CLK Gymnasium. Learn more about the Copper Country Community Arts Center and its programming online, including details for the Poor Artists Sale.
