In boys basketball last night…
- Houghton outscored L’Anse 67-44. Mason Mayo led the Gremlins with 21 points, and Terrance Nolan added 17. Sam Lee had 16 points for the Purple Hornets.

- Lake Linden-Hubbell got past Baraga 65-58.
- Ontonagon dropped a 53-51 nailbiter to Wakefield-Marenisco.

The Houghton High School swim team earned a sweep at a triangular at Gladstone yesterday.
On the boys side, the Gremlins outpointed the Flivvers 128-112, with the Emeralds in third place with 52 points. Anderson Limkemann won the 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke, and Alex Svanidze won the 50 freestyle. The 400 free relay team sealed the victory with a late win.
On the girls side, the Gremlins cruised past the Flivvers 142-78, with the Emeralds in third place with 54 points. The girls
won all three relays. Lydia Williams won the 200 freestyle, Shania Aepli won the 200 individual medley, Evelyn LaTendresse
took the 50 freestyle and Ahri Olson won the 100 breaststroke.

College Basketball
The Michigan Tech basketball teams opened their GLIAC campaigns with a sweep at Roosevelt University last night.
- The women’s team downed the Lakers 64-48. Soraya Timms led a balanced Huskies attack with 14 points.
- The 14th-ranked men’s squad claimed a 73-55 victory. Marcus Tomaskek and Gabe Smith each scored 14 points.
Both Tech teams play at Parkside tomorrow.
Both Northern Michigan teams claimed victories at Parkside last evening.
- The 17th-ranked women’s squad held off the Rangers 56-48. Faith Walder scored 12 points, and Alyssa Hill had 11 points and 12 rebounds.
- Cal Klesmit scored a career-best 30 points, as the Wildcats men’s team pulled out an 82-78 victory.
Both NMU teams play at Roosevelt tomorrow.
College Hockey
The Northern Michigan hockey team skates at Bowling Green tonight and tomorrow.
The Michigan Tech hockey team has the weekend off.
GLHL
The Portage Lake Pioneers welcome the Sun Prairie Killer Bees tonight at 7:30, and the Fond du Lac Bears tomorrow at 7:30.
The Calumet Wolverines host the Bears tonight at 7:30, and the Killer Bees tomorrow at 7:30.
NHL
The Red Wings suffered a 6-5 shootout loss to the Blue Jackets last night. Detroit played from behind most of the night, until goals by Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat put them up 5-4 midway through the third period. Adam Fantilli’s goal with 91 seconds remaining in regulation forced overtime, and the Jackets took the shootout 2-0. Dylan Larkin, Lucas Raymond and James van Riemsdyk also scored for Detroit. Cam Talbot took the loss in net, wtih 25 saves.
The Wings visit the Kraken tomorrow. Coverage will start at 9:45 on KBear 102.3.
NBA
The Pistons host the Trail Blazers tonight, with coverage at 7:05 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Bucks welcome the 76ers this evening.
NFL
In last night’s NFL game, Jahmyr Gibbs ran for three touchdowns, as the Lions outscored the Cowboys 44-30. His last two scores came late in the game, after Dallas had narrowed Detroit’s lead to just three points. In a game each team needed to win to keep their playoff hopes viable, the Lions’ defense sacked Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott five times
The Packers host the Bears in a 4:25 game Sunday.
