High School
Several volleyball players from our region have earned All-State honors from the Michigan Intercollegiate Volleyball Coaches Association.
Ava Fischer and Mya Williams from Forest Park were named to the Division Four First Team, along with Ishpeming’s Mya Hemmer. Kiera Isaacson from Dollar Bay-Tamarack City was placed on the Division Four Second Team. See all of the MIVCA All-State honorees here.
College Basketball
The Northern Michigan men’s basketball team against Concordia yesterday was called off because of the storm.
NHL
The Predators scored five goals in the third period, and defeated the Red Wings 6-3 last night. Second-stanza tallies by Alex DeBrincat and James van Riemsdyk gave Detroit a 2-1 lead. Ben Chiarot added a goal in the third period. Cam Talbot took the loss in net.
The Wings have lost three of their last four, and entertain the Lightning tomorrow. Coverage will begin at 11:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
NBA
The Pistons’ 13-game win streak ended with a narrow 117-114 loss to the Celtics in an NBA Cup game last night. Cade Cunningham scored 42, and Jalen Duren nabbed 16 rebounds.
The Pistons host the Magic in another Cup game tomorrow, with coverage at 7:05 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Bucks dropped a 106-103 decision to the Heat in an NBA Cup game last evening. Ryan Rollins led Milwaukee with 24 points.
The Bucks visit the Knicks for another Cup game tomorrow.
NFL
The Lions host the Packers in the opening game of today’s Thanksgiving tripleheader at 1:00.
The Chiefs visit the Cowboys in game two at 4:30, and the Ravens welcome the Bengals in the nightcap at 8:00.

All-Pro center Frank Ragnow will rejoin the Lions. Ragnow retired at the end of last season, citing a litany of injuries that left him playing in constant pain. Several weeks ago, coach Dan Campbell reiterated that Ragnow would not be returning. But, with Detroit’s offensive line struggling to protect Jared Goff, that situation has changed. There’s no word as to when he’ll be game-ready.
