College Hockey
The Michigan Tech hockey team dropped a 3-0 decision at Minnesota State last night. The Mavericks outshot the Huskies 27-12. Owen Bartoszkiewicz took the loss in net. Tech skates at MSU again tonight at 7:07.
The NMU hockey squad fell 7-3 at Bemidji State last evening. The Beavers outshot the Wildcats 34-15. NMU remains winless this season, and skates at Bemidji again tonight.
College Basketball
The Michigan Tech women’s basketball team held off Saint Cloud State 69-66 last evening. Ella Mason scored a career-best 24 points.
The 15th-ranked NMU women’s team suffered its first loss of the season, falling to Minnesota Duluth 85-70. Jacy Weisbrod led the Wildcats with 23 points.
The 13th-ranked Tech men’s team opened play at the American Family Insurance Classic with a 57-48 victory over Minnesota Duluth last night. Dawson Nordgaard led MTU with 15 points. The Huskies face Saint Cloud State this afternoon.
Dylan Kuehl poured in a career-high 35 points, as Northern’s men’s team outscored Northern State 81-60 at Wisconsin Dells. The Wildcats will take on Northwest Missouri State this afternoon.
NHL
The Red Wings host the Blue Jackets today. Coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 the Lift.
NBA
The Pistons will visit the Bucks tonight.
NFL
The Lions host the Giants in a 1:00 game tomorrow on 99.3 The Lift. Detroit tight end Sam LaPorta has undergone back surgery, and will likely miss the rest of the season.
The Packers entertain the Vikings in a 1:00 contest. Running back Josh Jacobs remains questionable with a knee injury suffered last week.
The Buccaneers visit the Rams in the Sunday night game, with coverage at 7:30 on 99.3 The Lift.
MLB
The Tigers and outfielder Matt Vierling have agreed to a $3.25 million contract for 2026, avoiding arbitration. Detroit also agreed to a $3 million deal with catcher Jake Rogers, and a $1.1 million deal with reliever Beau Brieske. They did not tender an offer to infielder Andy Ibáñez, who becomes a free agent.
