Breakwater Federal Credit Union has added financial literacy books to Free Little Libraries in the Keweenaw Peninsula to help young readers learn about money management.
The credit union recently visited four Free Little Libraries to drop off books and learning materials that make financial knowledge accessible for young readers, according to a Thursday announcement. The books have been placed in free libraries on Peepsock Street, Royalwood Road and Emerald Street in Houghton and in front of the First United Methodist Church in Hancock. Marketing and Community Relations Coordinator Kayleigh White said the credit union hopes to spark the community’s curiosity about taking control of their finances and help families introduce children to smart money decisions.
The books cover topics including how to build a budget, understanding credit and different types of investment accounts available to teens and adults. The materials include reading options for all ages.
