Treehouse Family Resources continues expanding its reach in the Copper Country through the annual Giving Tuesday fundraising campaign. Executive Director Liz Ludington said the campaign provides unrestricted funds that help many organizations match grants. For the family resource center, the funds fill gaps for programs that may lack grant support.
“We also have a home visiting program so we can work one-on-one with families over a long period of time to just help them build their strengths. They come up with their own goals for their family,” Ludington said. “We provide families with referrals to other agencies and organizations and help them with a warm handoff, often a lot of assistance filling out paperwork, all kinds of things like that. We have a baby closet so we provide for our concrete needs for people like diapers and clothing and safe sleep environments.”
Ludington said many nonprofits supported by federal and state dollars have seen budgets and grant programs cut in the past year. She adds this year’s campaign will contribute crucial funding for non-profits such as the Treehouse Family Resource Center. Though the Baby Closet, at home visits, playtime in the park, dad and parent cafes, and other similar programs, Treehouse helps families, parents and children build the confidence they need to raise strong and supportive households.
Over eight years, Giving Tuesday has raised more than $4.7 million to support nonprofits like Treehouse Family Resource Center. Most contributions come from individuals making small donations that add up quickly. Copper Shores will amplify community donations with a $200,000 match for Giving Tuesday 2025.
