Donald Edward Antila passed away November 7, 2025, in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
Donald was born on January 17, 1949, in Hancock, Michigan, to Edwin and Edna (Kokkonen) Antila. He grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where he graduated from Jeffers High School in 1967 and then attended Northern Michigan University where he received his Associates in Arts Certificate.
After completing school, Donald moved to Wisconsin/Illinois where he worked at Sears, Roebuck, and Company for 20 years as the Chief Planner in the Store Planning Department. He then was a construction manager for the Archdiocese of Chicago for 17 years, from which he retired. He enjoyed golf, bingo, and spending time with his children and granddaughter.
Donald is survived by his brother Ron (Sue) Antila of Suamico, Wisconsin; children Suni Antila of Seattle, Washington, Emily Barinholtz of Lake Zurich, Illinois, Dylan (Claire) Antila of Carrollton, Texas; and grandchildren Sophia Barinholtz and expected baby Antila. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Edna Antila; a sister, Marilyn Yoohs; and sons, Daniel and Dean Antila.
A graveside service for Donald will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in South Range in the Spring of 2026 with a date to be announced later.
