Parking tickets could help students stay fed and on campus. Recently in Michigan Tech’s The Lode, a student published an article sharing the Husky FAN Pantry will collect donations from students hoping to pay off their parking tickets. The Can the Citation Program, until November 23rd, will accept a full brown bag of groceries or eight 12-ounce cans in exchange for expunging parking tickets. As of 2020, the U.S. Government Accountability Office estimated 3.8 million college students across the country were food insecure. In February, Canada Citation collected 700 pounds of food for the Husky Fan Pantry, for over $2,300 in parking tickets.
