One person was injured in a two-car crash this morning in the City of Houghton.
The Houghton Police Department was called out around 8:00 to the intersection of Portage Street and Sharon Avenue.
They report that a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old Houghton resident was southbound on Portage, and stopped at the intersection. A second vehicle, driven by a 71-year-old Laurium resident, was eastbound on Sharon Avenue. It also stopped at the intersection, then proceeded through the intersection, where it collided with the southbound vehicle.
A passenger in the southbound vehicle was transported to UP Health System-Portage for treatment.
Names of those involved, and the condition of the injured passenger, have not been released.
Assisting at the scene were the Hancock Police Department, Houghton County Sheriff’s Department,
Michigan Tech Public Safety and Police Services, Huron Town Fire Department, and Houghton Fire
Department.
The accident remains under investigation by the Houghton Police Department.
