Conference champion Menominee dominated the WestPAC Copper Division All-Conference awards announced today.
The Maroons’ Tenner Theurkauf was the unanimous selection as Offensive Player of the Year. Teammate Nathan Nelson was named Defensive Player of the Year, and Chad Brandt was honored as Coach of the Year.
Preston DeClark from Kingsford was selected as Lineman of the Year, and Negaunee’s Evan DellAngelo as Special Teams Player of the Year.
Local players named to the First Team include running back Ben Anderson, wide receiver Oskar Loukus, defensive lineman Joe Halonen, outside linebacker Tyler Halonen, inside linebacker Trent Anderson, and defensive end Dirk Koskela from Calumet; defensive back Ben Keranen from Hancock; and Brayden Goudge from Houghton, who was selected as both a defensive back and punter.
Local players on the Second Team include center Robert Loukus, wide receiver Erik Loukus, tight end Peter Torola, defensive lineman Lyle Lasanen, and inside linebacker Jax Carlson from Calumet; fullback Trent Pietila, defensive back Drew Sturos and punter Forrest LaCourt from Hancock; and defensive back Joel Derocher from Houghton.
Honorable Mention votes went to defensive back Michael Johnson, wide receiver Rogan Gronlund, and outside linebacker Lance Newman of the Copper Kings; running back Tyler Jaehnig, linebacker Trent Pietila and outside linebacker Mason Wiitanen from Hancock; and quarterback Brody Donnelly, guard Keedin Roberts and defensive end Eli Hongisto from Houghton.
