The traffic lights at M-26 and Canal Road will switch to a flashing yellow light for the winter starting tomorrow. When the Michigan department of Transportation announced work to place a traffic light at the intersection earlier this summer, the department noted a need to continue monitoring the intersection and traffic patterns to determine when a flash mode is needed. The department expects to place the light in a flash mode during the winter months due to lower traffic volumes than in the summer. Please continue to use caution when approaching the intersection and watch for vehicles making a left turn onto the highway, or onto Canal Road.
