High School
The regular high school football season wrapped up last night…
- Houghton fell to Bark River-Harris 44-6.
- Calumet downed L’Anse 42-8. The Copper Kings built a 34-0 halftime lead, powered by touchdown runs of 41 and 31 yards by Trent Anderson, who also set up a scoring drive by intercepting a L’Anse pass. Ben Anderson scored on a 27-yard romp, and Tyler Halonen threw two touchdown passes, one to Erik Loukus for 18 yards, and the other to Oskar Loukus for 24 yards. The Copper Kings used reserves and members of the JV team through the second half, with Keith Koivisto racing 70 yards for a score. The Purple Hornets’ only touchdown came on their opening drive of the second half, when Keegan Davidson connected with Daniel Connor with a 10-yard pass.
- Hancock closed its season with a 42-32 loss to West Iron County.
- Lake Linden-Hubbell outscored Ontonagon 48-22. Brady Axford completed 10 of 15 passes for 99 yards, 2 touchdowns to Brady Axford, and 2 2-point conversions. He ran for 90 yards on 10 attempts, for 3 touchdowns and 3 2-point conversions. Josh Daavettila also ran for a score. Tyler Axford blocked a punt and intercepted a pass, and Lukas Axford also had an interception.
- Forest Park lost to North Central 50-30.
The tournament begins next weekend. Pairings and game locations will be announced by the Michigan High School Athletic Association tomorrow night.

College Hockey
The Michigan Tech hockey team spotted Ferris State an early goal, then scored five straight to take a 5-1 victory last night. Teydon Trembecky scored twice, and Brayden Boehm, Isaac Gordon and Noah Reinhart each found the net once. Owen Bartoszkiewicz made 29 saves.
The Huskies host the Bulldogs again tonight at 6:07.
The Northern Michigan hockey squad fell to top-ranked Michigan State 4-0. Oliver Auyeung-Ashton stopped 36 shots in net.
The Wildcats host the Spartans again tonight.
College Volleyball
The Michigan Tech volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (25-14, 25-20, 16-25, 25-16) decision to Wayne State last evening. Rachel Zurek led the Huskies with 12 kills. Julia Fledderjohn had 16 digs, and Madelynn Kreider logged 41 assists and added 13 digs.
The Huskies host Grand Valley State this afternoon at 2:00.
The NMU volleyball squad pulled out a 3-2 (25-23, 26-24, 17-25, 23-25, 15-12) victory over Grand Valley last evening. Kaylie McIntosh paced the Wildcats with 15 kills. Allie Barlow had 48 assists.
Northern will entertain Wayne State this afternoon.
College Football
Tech football plays at Northern in the annual Miner’s Cup game today at noon. The Huskies have held the Cup for 14 straight years.
College Soccer
The MTU women’s soccer team fell 3-0 at Ferris State yesterday afternoon. The Huskies will play at fifth-ranked Grand Valley State tomorrow afternoon.
The NMU women’s soccer team lost 3-0 at Grand Valley last evening, and plays at Ferris tomorrow.
The Northern Michigan men’s soccer team hosts St. Cloud State tomorrow afternoon.
NHL
The Red Wings host the Blues tonight. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
NBA
The Pistons shaded the Rockets 115-111 last night. Cade Cunningham scored 21, including three late free throws to seal the win.
The Pistons host the Celtics tomorrow. Coverage will begin at 3:05 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Bucks outscored the Raptors 122-116 last night. Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 31 points and grabbed 20 rebounds.
The Bucks visit the Cavaliers tomorrow.
MLB
The Blue Jays routed the Dodgers 11-4 in the opening game of the World Series last night. Game two will be played in Toronto this evening.
NFL
The Packers visit the Steelers in the Sunday night game on 99.3 The Lift.
The Lions have this weekend off.
