Earl K. Destrampe, age 84, resident of Bootjack, passed away on October 21, 2025 at Canal View-Houghton County where he had been a resident for the past few weeks.
Earl was born on November 28, 1940, a son of Lucien and Beatrice Destrampe. He graduated from Dollar Bay-Tamarack City High School in 1958.
He served in the US Army as a Staff Sergeant in the 74th Field Hospital during the Vietnam Conflict. He worked at C&H Mining, Nelson Brothers, Northern Hardwoods, and 41 Lumber, where he worked his way up from a truck driver to management at his retirement.
Earl was married to Nancy (Bolf) at Saint John’s in Calumet in 1965 and they recently celebrated their 60th anniversary.
He was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, the Hubbell VFW and the Lake Linden American Legion Post #90.
His “pride and joy” were his granddaughters and he loved spending time with them and at their events. He also enjoyed wood-carving and spending winters in Apache Junction, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother-in-law-George Diem, sister-in-law-Shirley Rowe; and nephew-George Diem, Jr.
Earl is survived by: his wife-Nancy of Bootjack; son-Kevin (Kelly) Destrampe of Bootjack; grandchildren-Karli (Nick) Schill of Wausau and Kaci (Wyatt) McIntyre of Mass City; great-grandsons-Evan James Earl Schill and Dustin “Dusty” Merril McIntyre; brothers-Lucien (Reta) and Bruce (Karen); sister-Jean Diem; sister-in-law-Dorothy (Walt) Parsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.
As per Earl’s wishes, there will be no public services.
