College Volleyball
The Michigan Tech volleyball team will host Northern Michigan tonight at 6:00.
MLB
The Tigers spotted the Mariners an early 3-0 lead last night, then roared back to claim a 9-3 victory and force a fifth game in their American League Divisional Series. Detroit tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the fifth, powered by RBI doubles by Dillon Dingler and Jahmai Jones. Riley Greene’s 454-foot solo homer gave the Tigers their first lead in the sixth inning, and the rout was on. Javier Báez had two hits, including a homer, and drove in four runs. Gleyber Torres also homered. Troy Melton earned the win with three innings of scoreless relief.
The series will be decided tomorrow night in Seattle. Tarik Skubal will start for Detroit. Coverage will begin at 7:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
The winner of tomorrow’s game will face the Blue Jays in the American League Championship Series. Toronto defeated the Yankees 5-2 to take a 3-1 win in their Divisional Series.
The Cubs staved off elimination with a 4-3 victory over the Brewers yesterday. All of Chicago’s runs came in the first inning off Quinn Priester. Jake Bauers homered for Milwaukee.
The Brewers lead that National League Divisional Series 2-1, with game four in Chicago tonight.
The Phillies clubbed the Dodgers 8-2 in the other National League series yesterday. L-A leads that set 2-1, with game four in Los Angeles tonight.
NHL
The Red Wings open the regular season tonight at home against the Canadiens. Because of NFL football on 99.3 The Lift, Wings coverage will begin at 6:45 on KBear 102.3.
NBA
The Pistons continue their preseason campaign this evening at Milwaukee. Listen for selected Pistons broadcasts again this season on 99.3 The Lift.
NFL

Lake Linden-Hubbell’s Homecoming celebration this weekend will include a fun run and walk. A 5k event begins at 9:00 at the elementary school, with 1-mile kids and adult runs to follow. For details and sign-up information, click here.
Alpine Skiing
The Copper Country Snow Sports Club will hold its annual Winter Gear sale Saturday from 11 until 2 at the Mont Ripley chalet. Gear to be sold should be dropped off at the chalet tomorrow between 5:00 and 8:00. A limited early bird sale will begin Saturday at 10:00, with an admission fee of $25 per family, and a limit of 30 families. The sale will be open to the public between 11:00 and 2:00. Checks and unsold gear should be picked up on Saturday between 2:00 and 3:00. The club will take a 20 percent commission on each sale to support youth ski programs. For more details, click here.
