The Baraga County Historical Society will break ground on a major renovation to the history museum.
On Wednesday the Baraga County Historical Society will begin work on the Baraga County History Museum’s construction and renovation project. A major donor to the project includes Jay Wakefield of Kirland, Washington. The renovations will more than quadruple the size of the Baraga County History Museum, and will include galleries dedicated to ancient copper mining, and the cultures of the Keweenaw Bay region, pre and post European contact, as well as history on the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community and Baraga County.
Wednesday’s groundbreaking ceremony will include an appearance from Wakefield, and a drum circle with KBIC to commemorate the occasion. The groundbreaking ceremony will begin at 3 pm on Wednesday.
