Visit Keweenaw’s Board of Directors approves a six-month leadership transition plan. Earlier in the summer Visit Keweenaw announced Executive Director Brad Barnett will leave his role with the tourism bureau for an opportunity in Duluth Minnesota. In anticipation of needing Barnett’s expertise and knowledge of tourism in the Copper Country the board of directors has agreed to a six-month plan that will keep Barnett on the team, in a remote role, and will appoint a Houghton based Managing Director during this period. Creating a smooth transition of leadership for visit Keweenaw has been a top priority of the bureau’s borad of directors. Barnett expects to work 4 to 5 days per month in the region to meet with stakeholders, attend board meetings, and appear at major events for the community, and will otherwise be available remotely. The board of directors anticipates reviewing the transition again after six months.
