The Houghton County Sheriff locates a missing hunter safe over the weekend. On Friday the Houghton County sheriff was called out for a search and rescue after learning an 82-year-old lower Michigan man had not reported back from preparing his bait area for bear hunting in the Winona area. Officials were able to locate the man’s bait bucket, and tail camera approximately 150 feet from the trail.
Overnight the man was able to locate a logging excavator to stay in and keep warm.
On Saturday search officials located the man in the vicinity of the DNR Field Station in Twin Lakes. The Houghton County Sheriff office says the search took approximately 22 hours to complete. The man was found in good condition, and he denied further medical treatment.
