Douglas M. “Doug” Holma, age 82 of Watton, MI passed away Friday, September 5, 2025 at Oscar g. Johnson VA Medical Center in
Iron Mountain, MI. He was born in Negaunee, MI on July 29, 1943 the son of the late Elmer and Helen (Heikkinen) Holma. Doug graduated from L’Anse high School in 1961. He was drafted in 1965 into the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Doug married the former Carol LeRue in Baraga, MI on October 27, 1973. In his earlier years he had worked as a logger and had then been employed with Cleveland Cliffs and retired after 36 years. Doug was a lifetime member of Covington VFW Post #8945 and the Covington Fire Department. He enjoyed cutting wood, hunting, fishing, camping and taking rides in the woods.

Doug is survived by his loving wife Carol of Watton, children Kevin Parker of Ishpeming, Keith Parker of Baraga, Kirk Parker of Sidnaw, Steve (Kay) Holma of Sidnaw, Jean Beauprey of Watton, and Dan (Cori) Holma of Utah, grandchildren Alan, Katie, Chase, Samantha, Kyle, Kayla, Peyton, Belle, Joey, Ryan, Steven, Bobbi, Emily, Keegan, Colby, Kayleigh, Ciara, and Caine, great grandchildren Everett, Autumn, and Sophia, sister Nancy (Lee) Marinich of L’Anse. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson Camden and his brother Marvin.
Graveside services and military honors for Doug will be held at 11 am, Saturday, September 13, 2025 at the Covington Cemetery. Immediately following the services, a luncheon will be held at the Covington VFW Post 8945.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Doug’s honor to be directed to the Covington VFW Post #8945.
