Keweenaw ATV shares a couple of trail closures announcements for Keweenaw County.
Starting today the DNR will begin a repair project, closing a trail crossing the Union Creek Culvert near Highrock Bay Road. This closure will remain in effect from today through September 12th. The DNR’s project avoids heavy traffic times around Labor Day and occurs before grouse hunting season starts September 15th. Additionally, no vehicle traffic will have access to High Rock Bay or the north side of Schlatter Lake during this time. The closure will begin at Mandan and High Rock Bay Roads about a half mile northeast on High Rock Bay Road, past the project site.

A second trail closure will impact a section of trail south of Eagle Harbor. Main trail B will close for logging.
The trail will close from Silver Mine Road to Camp 7 Road. The Keweenaw ATV club has placed a detour route for travelers. The suggested route will begin just west of the Gratiot Lake Road intersection of US –41, where the main trail cross the highway. Continues north toward Eagle harbor and reconnects with the main trail near Delaware.
