College Soccer
The MTU women’s soccer team lost a tight 1-0 decision to Saint Cloud State yesterday.
The NMU women’s team played Minnesota-Duluth to a 0-0 draw.
MLB
The Tigers suffered a 6-4 loss to the White Sox yesterday. Detroit carried a 4-3 lead into the late innings, but Chicago tied the game with a run off Tommy Kahnle in the seventh, and won it with two off Will Vest in the eighth.
The Tigers lost two of three to Chicago. They have today off, and open a series against the Yankees in New York tomorrow. Casey Mize will start against Will Warren. Coverage will begin at 6:40 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Brewers pasted the Pirates 10-2 yesterday. Milwaukee struck early, plating nine runs over the first three innings. Andrew Vaughn had four hits. Jake Bauers had two hits, drove in two runs, and scored three times. Jacob Misiorowski gave up a run on three hits over seven innings, while striking out eight.
The Brewers begin a series at Texas tonight. Jose Quintana will pitch against Jacob Latz.
NFL
The Packers buried the Lions 27-13 in their season-opener yesterday. Green Bay held Detroit’s running game to just 46 yards. Jordan Love threw two touchdown passes for the Pack. Jared Goff threw one for the Lions, and also tossed an interception. Detroit running back Jahmyr Gibbs caught 10 passes, but for a total of just 31 yards. That’s the fewest yards for a player with at least 10 catches in NFL history.
In last night’s game, the Bills scored 16 points in the final four minutes, and stunned the Ravens 41-40.
Tonight, the Vikings visit the Bears. Coverage will begin at 7:00 on 99.3 The Lift.
