Upper Peninsula anglers are gearing up for this season's walleye, northern pike and muskellunge openers./
Fishing has been a long-time past time of the Upper Peninsula. Walleye especially. The golden fish looks even better battered and fried.
Coming up soon the Gogebic Area Chamber of Commerce hosts the 47th annual Lake Gogebic Fall Walleye Tournament. Lake Gogebic has a reputation for some great walleye fishing. And plenty of local and tournament anglers will know just where to find the biggest fish in the lake. The annual celebration of continues a long tradition of bringing the community together, and world class fishing.
The chamber of commerce will ask participants to register for the September 12th and 13th tournament by September 6th. Those registering after September 6th will pay a little more to join the anglers on the lake. Vice president of the chamber of commerce Shawn Montie says each year the fall walleye fishing tournament brings excitement to the area, and welcomes many local, and visiting fishers.
