Cheryl J. “Dodo” Swartz, age 72, of Zeba, MI, passed away at her home on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Hancock, MI, on January 7, 1953, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Connie (LaBelle) Kent. Dodo graduated from L’Anse High School in 1971. On September 16, 1972, she married Roland Swartz at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in L’Anse.
Dodo was employed for 30 years as a pharmacy tech at the former L’Anse Pharmacy, now L’Anse Health Mart, until her retirement on January 8, 2018.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the L’Anse Golf Club, and was a proud supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Dodo enjoyed golfing, bowling, and was a former member of the Whirl-I-Gig Women’s Bowling League and the Zeba Bear Walkers softball team. She loved watching the Detroit Tigers, doing jigsaw puzzles and word searches, and watching Jeopardy!
Dodo is survived by her loving husband, Roland, of Zeba; daughters Callie Urban (Ronnie Chagnon) of L’Anse, Dena Tellin of L’Anse, and Kori Swartz (Jeremy Forbes) of Shepherd, MI; grandchildren Taylor, Makenna, Hailey, Spencer, Lily, and Jared; brothers Roger (Sharon) Kent and Donny Kent, both of L’Anse; sister-in-law Mary Kent of Mt. Pleasant, MI; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; and her best friend, Jane LeClaire.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Terrence “Skinny” Kent and Deane Kent.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Ben Rivard, celebrant. The family will greet friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. A luncheon and fellowship will follow at the Zeba Hall.
