Incumbent Republican Ed McBroom is term-limited, and cannot run again in 2026.
Chris Reynolds has announced his candidacy as a Republican. Reynolds is a teacher and coach in the Mid-Peninsula School District. He has established a Facebook page here.
Kelli van Ginhoven is campaigning as a Democrat. van Ginhoven is the vice-chair of the Delta County Board of Commissioners, and has experience on the Escanaba City Planning Commission, the Escanaba Downtown Development Authority, and the Community Foundation of Delta County. State senate candidates for the two major parties will be selected in a primary next summer.
