MLB
Jack Flaherty’s roller coaster season continued yesterday, as the Tigers fell to the Royals 10-8. Coming off one of his best outings of the summer, Flaherty was torched for six runs in the third inning. The Bengals tried to bail him out, and took a brief one-run lead after the fifth, but Flaherty allowed the first two batters in the sixth to reach base. Tyler Holton replaced him, allowed those two runners to score, and let in another run with a wild pitch. Flaherty’s line: eight runs on 10 hits over five innings, and his unlucky 13th loss of the season. Riley Greene, Wenceel Pérez and Spencer Torkelson homered for Detroit.
The Tigers head west to visit the Athletics tonight. Tarik Skubal will start against J.T. Ginn. Coverage will begin at 9:40 on 99.3 The Lift.
Ryan Kreidler is no longer a Tiger. He was claimed off waivers by the Pirates after Detroit designated him for assignment.
Heliot Ramos’ bases-loaded single off Trevor Megill in the top of the ninth lifted the Giants to a 4-3 victory over the Brewers. Caleb Durbin homered for Milwaukee.
The Brewers welcome the Diamondbacks tonight. Brandon Woodruff will pitch against Eduardo Rodriguez.
Milwaukee has recalled Chad Patrick from Nashville, and sent Carlos Rodriguez down.
NFL
The Packers have bolstered their offensive line by obtaining tackle Darian Kinnard from the Eagles. Heading into his fourth season, Kinnard already has three Super Bowl rings – one with the Eagles, and two with the Chiefs, although he’s only actually played in three games. Green Bay gives up a sixth-round 2027 draft pick.
