MLB
The Tigers are cruising again, after a 4-2 win over the Royals Saturday. Chris Paddack earned the win, allowing a run on five hits over five innings. Spencer Torkelson and Andy Ibañez homered. Jake Rogers had two hits and drove in two runs.
The Tigers have won 12 of their last 15 games, and host the Royals again today. Jack Flaherty will start against Seth Lugo. Coverage will begin at 1:15 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Brewers fell hard to the Giants, 7-1. Caleb Durbin’s RBI double in the second inning held up until San Francisco plated three against Grant Anderson in the sixth, and added four off Carlos Rodriguez in the seventh.
The Brewers will host the Blue Jays again today. This would be Brandon Woodruff’s turn in the rotation, but Milwaukee has not officially listed a starter. Robbie Ray will pitch for the Giants.
Brice Turang sat out yesterday’s game after he was hit on the right wrist by a pitch in Friday’s contest. He’s considered day-to-day.
NFL
The Lions closed their preseason with an ugly 26-7 loss to the Texans Saturday. Kyle Allen grabbed the advantage in the battle for the backup quarterback job, completing all five of his passes for 66 yards and a touchdown. Hendon Hooker connected on 6 of 11 attempts, with one interception.
The Packers tuned up for the regular season with a 20-7 win over the Seahawks. Malik Willis and Tayler Elgersma each threw touchdown passes, and Brandon McManus kicked a pair of field goals.
