Summer’s close and the start to fall means cold air will soon return to the Upper Peninsula. And homeowners will want to keep their house warmer than the temperatures outside.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services will partner with the Community Economic Development Association of Michigan to encourage homeowners to consider applying for the Home Heating Credit.
Qualified Michigan renters and homeowners will have until September 30th to claim credit. Governor Gretchen Whitmer says the home heating credit is a vital resource for families, and those on fixed or limited incomes as Michigan heads into the fall and winter seasons. The 2024 program provided 180 dollars to qualified households to apply directly to utility bills. Some utility providers were able to automatically applied a 20-dollar credit per month.
