David J. “Dave” Soliz, 71, of Hancock, passed away on August 5, 2025 at the Omega House in Houghton.
Dave was born on March 28, 1954 in Detroit to the late Daniel and Beulah (Smith) Soliz. He graduated from Lincoln Park High School in 1972. He then worked at Miceli and Oldfield’s in several positions for 45 years. He also owned his own power washing company for over 20 years. He spent his retirement years working for his son-in-law and daughter’s business The Forge restaurant in Hancock. He was a very hard working person and often times held a second or third part time job.
He was a lifetime Detroit Tigers fan and loved the original Star Wars films. His sense of humor and laughter will be remembered by all who knew him. He also played softball for his Methodist Church League for over a decade.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Soliz, Sarah (Robert) Rhinehart, and Jennifer (Richard Smith) Soliz; grandchildren Joshua Calhoun, Grace Soliz, Sora Smith, and Cara Rhinehart; siblings Gloria (Carole) Soliz and Douglas (Debbie) Soliz; and his work wife Debbie (Mike) Egan.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to the Omega House in Houghton or to the Mariucci Family Beacon House in Marquette.
