MLB
The Tigers’ fade continued yesterday, with an ugly 9-4 loss to the Twins. Coming off two good starts, Jack Flaherty struggled into the fifth inning, giving up six runs on eight hits, and suffering his 11th loss of the season. Zach McKinstry, Spencer Torkelson and Kerry Carpenter homered in the losing effort.
The Tigers have dropped four of their last six, They’ll take today off, and host the Angels Friday. Tarik Skubal will pitch against Kyle Hendricks. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Brewers became the first team in the majors to earn 70 wins this season, with a 5-4 victory over the Braves. The Crew pounded out 14 hits, including home runs by Andrew Vaughn and Blake Perkins. Jose Quintana earned the win, giving up three runs over seven innings.
The Brewers also take today off, and open a home set against the Mets tomorrow. Brandon Woodruff will pitch against Kodai Senga.
NFL
The Packers’ offensive line took a hit yesterday, when second-year player Travis Glover was placed on injured reserve. He’ll need surgery to repair a shoulder injury, and will miss the entire season.
Running
The annual 906 Bootjack Fun Run and Walk takes place Saturday. It’s an untimed, family-friendly event that raises money for Bootjack Fire and Rescue. Events include:
- a 9.06k Run
- a 9.06k Walk
- the Mini906 Run and Walk
- the 0.906k Supermini
The race will start and end at the Dreamland Restaurant and Bar, with the course along beautiful Portage Lake. Check-in begins Saturday morning at 8.
