There are fewer than two weeks until the August election day in Houghton County. The election will only include local measures such as millage renewals and requests.
The early voting center will not return to Houghton County until 2026. County clerk Jennifer Kelly says the county will organize early voting centers in the future during state and federal elections. The last early voting center, used in November 2024, was partly funded through state funding, with the expectation that counties will become responsible for funding the centers in the future.
Voters hoping to cast ballots early for August 5th will have the option to vote absentee. Absentee voters will need to register with their township or city clerk’s office by August 2nd, or the Saturday before election day. Clerks must receive absentee ballots no later than 8 pm on election day in Michigan.
On August 5th, voters will need to determine where they will vote. The Michigan online voter information center offers easy access to knowledge on your voter registration status, the Where Do I Vote tool, and much more to help voters find the information they need. Go online to the Michigan.gov voter information center, select Where is my polling place, fill out the prompts, and you can find details on where your polling place is located, your absentee voter status, contact information for your clerk, and your voting district.
