Fishing
There are a couple of youth fishing events planned this weekend.
The Calumet-Keweenaw Sportsmen’s Club will host its 20th annual Kids Fishing Tournament at the Swedetown Pond this morning. It’s a free family event for kids ages 16 and younger, with lots of prizes. Registration opens at 9:00 am with fishing from 9:30 am until noon. Announcements of winners, a bike raffle, and lunch will follow at noon. There are prizes for the largest bluegill, perch, bullhead, and smallest fish. If you have fishing equipment, please bring it. If not, some will be available. Bait will be provided.
Tomorrow, kids are invited to the Hanka Homestead at 10 to learn how fish is used and prepared in Finland. From 11:30 to 12:30, they can fish with a Keweenaw National Historical Park Ranger at the nearby Otter Lake boat launch.
See details about both events on our KeweenawReport.com Community Calendar.
