The community organizes fundraising initiatives to support the funeral costs of the two men who died in a canoe accident.
Mathew Wickstrom and Devin Wright died after a canoe accident in Copper Harbor on June 28th. A third man was able to escape the accident and make it to shore to call for help. A subsequent search found both men’s bodies by June 29th.
Friends of Wickstrom and Wright, on behalf of their families, have organized GoFundMe campaigns to assist with funeral costs, seeking to raise $8,000 for both men. Wickstrom was from Laurium and worked as a cook for The Bluffs and Harbor Haus. But we will be remembered by friends and family as a father, son, husband, and avid sports fan. Wright, from Chassell, developed a passion for cooking, carpentry, and floristry. Wright was the father of three children.
