Art around the city can liven up any downtown.
Recently the Keweenaw Community Foundation announced a new project that will create a movable mural to celebrate the spirit, stories, and identity of the Keweenaw peninsula. The Movable Community Mural initiative invites artists and creative teams to submit concepts that focus on the region’s vibrant communities, amplify local voices, and reflect the diverse experiences of the people living in the Copper Country.
KCF Executive Director Robin Meneguzzo says the mural will serve as a visual representation that ties together the region’s communities while being mobile enough to travel to different communities and engage with new audiences.
The Keweenaw Community Foundation will close its request for proposals after July 18th. The project is open to all artists, architects, designers, art and community organizations, and non-profits in Houghton and Keweenaw counties. The artist selected to create to movable community mural will work with a 2.300 dollar budget provided by the Keweenaw Community Foundation.
