An Ontonagon man was arrested for possession of child sexually abusive material following an investigation by the ICAC and MDOC.
Michigan State Police have arrested 35-year-old Brent Edward Mayer of Ontonagon for possession of child sexually abusive material. The MSP Computer Crimes Unit and Internet Cris Against Children Task Force began an investigation into Mayer after an investigation was initiated by the Michigan Department of Corrections.
In a subsequent search of Mayer’s home, law enforcement seized digital evidence. Mayer has been charged with seven counts of aggravated possession of C-S-A material, and one count of aggravated child sexual abuse activity. He also faces eight charges of using a computer to commit a crime.
This is Mayer’s second offense and has been served a habitual offender notice. He was arraigned in the 98th district court in May, with a bond set at 50,000 dollars. A probable cause hearing has been scheduled in July.
