In Copper Country Twilight League baseball last evening…
- Garnet Garage shaded REL Technologies 5-4. Chris Saari singled home Gaborik Carlson in the bottom of the 7th inning to win the game.
- Houghton Building Supply-Stanton outscored Northern Driveline 10-5.
MLB
Dietrich Enns’ return to the major leagues after three seasons abroad could hardly have gone better, as the Tigers blanked the Athletics 8-0 yesterday. Enns allowed just one hit over five innings. Spencer Torkelson and Gleyber Torres homered, and Zach McKinstry had three hits, including a two-run triple.
The Tigers entertain the Twins tonight. Sawyer Gipson-Long will pitch against David Festa. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
To make room for Enns on the roster, Detroit designated pitcher Matt Gage for assignment.
The Brewers had yesterday off, and welcome the Rockies tonight. Jose Quintana will start against Kyle Freeland.
NBA
In the second round of the NBA Draft last night…
- The Pistons selected Tennessee guard Chaz Lanier with the 37th overall pick. He’s known as a three-point shooter, and a solid defender.
- The Bucks used the 47th overall pick on 19-year-old Serbian forward Bogoljub Marković.
Milwaukee has also signed undrafted Alabama guard Mark Sears to a two-way contract.
NHL
The NHL Draft begins with the opening round tonight. The Islanders have the first pick, followed by the Sharks and the Blackhawks. The Red Wings have the 13th selection.
Rounds two through seven will take place tomorrow.
