Rain in the forecast might put a damper on the longest day of the year. Visit Keweenaw has made plans in case late rain showers and potential thunderstorms arrive in the Keweenaw between today and tomorrow.
The only thing that would stop that fire is that nothing else is going to change on Friday except for the fire. And we were talking with small craft about hopefully moving the music at least over to the pavilion. So we’re talking about that for Friday night still at Porvoo. The only thing that might not happen on Friday is the fire if we are unable to because of rain. – Jesse Wiederhold, Community and Events Coordinator, Visit Keweenaw
In spite of potential rain later this evening Juhannus celebrations will start at 3 pm at Small Craft.
They’re calling it the long drink experience right at the small craft. They’re going to be bringing their branded cold plunges So you’ll have the long drink boxes to dive into And the longest time you can stay in there. You’re going to be winning some swag I mean I was given gifts by the person who’s coming up a long drink yeti – Jesse Wiederhold, Community and Events Coordinator, Visit Keweenaw.
Saturday could start with some more rain, but the sun will break through during the day, hopefully in time for the community to raise the midsummer pole at 1130. After tomorrow’s fun is started with some ceremony, there’s plenty of activity to check out.
That garden is from 1 to 6 p.m., right? You’ve got your dance lessons and your dance at the Finnish American Heritage Center. We’re having a comedy and music fusion show at the Orpheum. That will be 8 p.m. That’s when our doors are opening. Tickets are $10 to get in. You’ll see four acts. There are two musicians and two comedians. Some local Marquette and UP acts. – Jesse Wiederhold, Community and Events Coordinator, Visit Keweenaw
After all of the fun and celebration on Friday and Saturday join Visit Keweenaw for a pancake breakfast on Sunday. All proceeds raised throughout the weekend will support the Copper Country Finns and Friends. The cultural heritage committee organizes Finnish American programming such as Heikinpaiva and National Sauna Week. Learn more about Copper Country Finns and Friends online.
